Indoor THCA flower, explained
Indoor flower is the top shelf of our everyday range. It costs a little more than greenhouse or outdoor flower because every stage of the grow is controlled, and that control shows in the finished bud. Here is what indoor actually means, how it compares with the other grades, and how to buy it without overpaying.
The short version
- Indoor is grown entirely inside, with light, temperature and humidity controlled by the grower.
- The result is dense, consistent buds that look and cure the same from batch to batch.
- Indoor smalls come from the same plants as full size indoor buds, at a lower price.
- Potency is set by the strain and batch, so check the lab report for the numbers.
What makes flower indoor
Outdoor hemp lives with whatever the season brings: sun, rain, wind and pests. Indoor hemp never sees any of it. The grower sets the light cycle, holds the temperature and humidity where the plant wants them, and keeps air moving through the canopy. Because nothing is left to the weather, indoor flower tends to come out tighter and more uniform, and one harvest looks much like the next.
Indoor compared with the other grades
| Grade | Light | Climate control | Where it sits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outdoor | Sun | None | Lowest cost flower |
| Greenhouse | Sun, under cover | Partial | Value |
| Light assist | Sun plus added lighting | Partial | Middle |
| Indoor | Grow lights | Full | Top shelf |
Above indoor sits THCA private reserve, our hand selected top grade. Below it, light assist and greenhouse smalls trade a little presentation for a lower price.
Why buy indoor smalls
A smalls bag is the smaller buds from the same plants that produce full size indoor flower. Same strain, same grow, same lab report. What you give up is bud size, and what you get back is a lower price. If you grind your flower anyway, bud size makes little difference once it is in the grinder.
What to look for in indoor flower
- Structure. Indoor buds should feel dense and hold their shape.
- Trichome coverage. A frosty surface is a sign of a well grown, carefully handled plant.
- Aroma. A strong, clean smell when the bag opens points to a good cure.
- The lab report. The only reliable way to know THCA and delta-9 THC levels.

Every strain has a certificate of analysis. Look up the results on our Test Results page before you buy.
Buying indoor by weight
New to a strain? Start with cheap indoor THCA flower by the ounce. Buying for the month or longer? Bulk indoor THCA smalls come in quarter pound, half pound and pound bags. To compare any two options fairly, divide the price by the grams in the bag and compare the price per gram.
Frequently asked questions
What is indoor THCA flower?
It is hemp grown entirely inside, where the grower controls the light, temperature, humidity and airflow instead of relying on the weather. That control is what gives indoor flower its dense structure and its consistency from one batch to the next.
Is indoor THCA flower better than greenhouse?
It depends what you value. Indoor gives the most control and the most consistent look and structure. Greenhouse and outdoor flower cost less. If you mainly want value, start lower on the ladder. If you want top shelf presentation, indoor is the grade to choose.
Are indoor smalls the same as full size indoor flower?
They come from the same plants and carry the same lab reports. Smalls are simply the smaller buds, so they are priced lower. You give up bud size, not the strain.
Which THCA flower is the strongest?
Potency depends on the strain and the individual batch, not on the grow method alone. Every strain has a certificate of analysis, so compare the published results on our Test Results page rather than relying on the grade.
Why do some indoor strains show as sold out?
Individual indoor strains sell through and are replaced by new harvests. Strains marked sold out will not all return, but new indoor strains are added as they come in.
Can I buy indoor THCA flower in bulk?
Yes. Bulk indoor smalls are available by the quarter pound, half pound and pound when in stock, and indoor ounces are available for trying a strain first.
